Minister for Energy Mark Bailey has joined Supercar champion Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom at the Gold Coast 600 today to promote the Palaszczuk Government’s E10OK education campaign.
Minister Bailey said the campaign encourages motorists to take a fresh look at E10’s high quality, more modern car technology and highlights that E10 use in everyday cars helps to advance Queensland’s economy.
“Since the launch just over three weeks ago of the Palaszczuk Government’s E10OK campaign, more than 170,000 vehicle searches have been made to check vehicle compatibility with E10 fuel,” Mr Bailey said.
“The E10 compatibility checker, which gives motorists the option to search by their vehicle’s registration or make and model to see if their vehicle is compatible, has seen impressive traffic, including on the Gold Coast.
“This campaign is about educating motorists on the benefits of using biofuels and asking them to give E10 a try as a lot has changed in the last ten years.”
Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom, who is the face of the campaign, said ethanol blends are the fuel of choice for the motor racing industry.
“Ethanol has been standard in the racing industry for some time now, including in the Supercars that are here today, and should become standard for every day motorists too,” Mr Winterbottom said.
“I encourage Queensland motorists to follow the motor racing industry’s lead and become E10OK, by making E10 your preferred vehicle fuel.”
The top towns and cities for E10 compatibility checks include:
Brisbane | Gold Coast | Sunshine Coast | Toowoomba | Cairns | Townsville | Mackay | Hervey Bay |
134,724 | 11,348 | 3,846 | 2,437 | 2,129 | 2051 | 526 | 361 |
Mr Bailey said E10 is a fuel source which incorporates ethanol into petrol, bringing a cleaner-burning fuel to the bowser, and that increased demand for E10 will assist in building our biofuels industry.
“The biofuels mandate is another way the Palaszczuk Government is transitioning Queensland to a clean energy economy, by attracting investment to the State’s biofuels and bio-manufacturing industry and creatingjobs, particularly in regional Queensland,” Mr Bailey said.
