The Hindu Council Australia organised Deepavali celebration at Federal Parliament in Canberra on 17 October. Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles MP, other Federal Ministers and Parliamentarians attended the celebration and addressed the gathering there. Indian High Commissioner to Australia Manpreet Vohra also attended the celebration and felicitated the guests. Deepavali is the Hindu festival of lights which is also celebrated in various forms in other Indian religions. The symbolic significance of Deepavali lies in its strength to dispel darkness and bring spiritual light into the life of people, This festival also symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance
