A high-level delegation from the Government of India’s Ministry of Steel, led by Secretary Sandeep Poundrik, recently visited Perth to strengthen bilateral ties with the Australian government and industrial leaders in the mining and resources sector.
The delegation included Abhijit Narendra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel; Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC Ltd; Ajit Kumar Saxena, CMD of MOIL Ltd; and Manish Raj Gupta, Director (Technical) at SAIL Ltd. During the visit, the delegation reviewed the Mount Celia Gold Project, an initiative by NMDC Ltd in collaboration with Legacy Iron Ore Ltd.
The team was joined by Naresh Kumar, Chairman of Australian company ACG, and Rakesh Gupta, CEO of Legacy Iron Ore Ltd, a subsidiary of NMDC.
The visit underscores the deepening cooperation between India and Australia in the minerals and mining sector and highlights India’s growing interest in overseas resource development to support its steel and infrastructure expansion goals.
