Queensland’s Indian community can be assured it has no greater friend.
And Queensland has no greater friends than the people of our Indian community whose contribution to our state helps make it what it is.
This is demonstrated in the many occasions when we have celebrated our mutual respect and friendship including at Parliament House. They are among the highlights of my year.
And it is expressed in more than just words.
In May, when suffering from the pandemic was at its worst, I was pleased to provide a two-million-dollar donation to the Red Cross to provide vital PPE and oxygen supplies to India on behalf of the people of Queensland.
I join with you in looking forward to the time when families can be reunited and we can put this pandemic behind us, a day that will be hastened by encouraging everyone to get vaccinated.
