A business networking session titled “The New India – Tapping the Potential” was held at the Consulate General of India in Sydney on May 30, organised in partnership with the Greater Cumberland Chamber of Commerce.
The event was aimed at strengthening trade and investment links between Australia and India. It attracted Australian business representatives from a range of industries seeking opportunities to engage with India’s fast-growing market.
The session showcased the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) and outlined the benefits it offers to Australian exporters and investors.
Presentations covered recent Indian government initiatives designed to boost foreign investment and outlined priority sectors including manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, and digital services.
Consulate officials encouraged business leaders to leverage the improved trade environment and deepen bilateral commercial ties under the ECTA framework. The gathering also provided space for interaction and future collaboration among participating firms.
The event concluded with an invitation for more Australian businesses to explore India’s economic potential as a strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region.
