Cairns, September 9 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Cairns has donated $2,092.50 to the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, funds raised during this year’s Cairns Indian Festival and Valedictory Dinner.

The donation reflects GOPIO Cairns’ commitment not only to celebrating Indian culture but also to supporting the wider Cairns community.

GOPIO Cairns president, Subash Chetry, said, “We are proud to support the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation. This donation is our way of saying thank you to the region that supports us, and of helping improve healthcare services for families across Cairns and Far North Queensland.”

The funds will assist in enhancing patient care, health services, and other vital hospital initiatives across the region.

This year’s Cairns Indian Festival drew over 8,000 attendees, featured 50 stalls, and was backed by 50 sponsors, making it one of the largest multicultural celebrations in Far North Queensland.

The event showcased vibrant cultural performances, traditional cuisines, and community engagement, highlighting how multicultural initiatives can combine celebration with meaningful contributions to society.
