Jammu, Jan 20 (IANS) Police in J&K’s Reasi district said on Tuesday that it has cracked down on violations of SDM’s orders and multiple people have been booked for the defiance.
An official said that District Police Reasi has intensified its enforcement drive to ensure strict compliance with tenant verification rules and lawful directions.
During a verification drive at Daba Morh, Police Post Banganga found tenants staying without mandatory verification at the shed of Chain Singh, son of Deepti, resident of Jadsarkote, Udhampur.
The official said that an FIR No. 30/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS has been registered.
In another action on the SMVD Track, an unauthorised pony operator, Shabir Khan, son of Nasib Ali, resident of Jandial, Jammu, was found working without a valid registration card.
He has been booked under FIR No. 28/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS. Similarly, at Kakryal, Nazir Ahmed, son of Din Mohammad, resident of Kun Kanyala Panthal, Katra, was found keeping tenants Sajad Ahmed Dar and his wife Daisy Jaan, without verification, leading to the registration of FIR No. 29/2026 U/S 223 BNS.
Moreover, Onkar Singh, son of Krishan Singh, resident of Chamba Chandwa, Katra, was apprehended under Section 355 BNS and penalised by the Hon’ble Court.
The whole operation was carried out by incharge police post Banganga PSI, incharge police post PP Kakrayal and the SHO police station Katra, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra and SP Katra.
SSP Reasi reiterated that District Police Reasi urges all landlords and service providers to follow tenant verification norms strictly. Any violation will be dealt with firmly under the law.
Police in Srinagar and Jammu districts have also booked some house owners, hotels, lodgings, guesthouses and home stays for allowing guests to stay at their places, sometimes including foreigners, without following the laid down procedure in such cases.
