Patna, Jan 22 (IANS) The suspicious death of a NEET aspirant from Jehanabad, who was staying at a girls’ hostel in Patna, has taken a political turn. Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav has adopted an aggressive stance on the issue, levelling serious allegations against the Bihar Police and questioning whether an “influential person” is being shielded.
Pappu Yadav alleged that the mafia elements involved in an alleged sex racket operating in Patna are receiving protection from the government machinery.
He demanded that hostel owner Manish Ranjan be taken into police custody for detailed interrogation, claiming that the accused may have been sent to jail in haste to protect someone powerful.
On Thursday, the MP launched a fresh attack on the government and police through a social media post.
He questioned which leader’s or minister’s son, allegedly holding a constitutional position, is linked to the case.
He further asked whom the Bihar Police are trying to protect by crossing all limits, and alleged that the victim’s family is being unfairly targeted and defamed.
He also questioned who is shielding mafia elements linked to the alleged sex racket in Patna, asserting that he would not allow the matter to be suppressed.
Earlier, Pappu Yadav visited Prabhat Memorial Hospital, where the student was first admitted.
He accused the hospital management and doctors of misleading the police, claiming that they failed to provide accurate information about the student’s condition during treatment, which allegedly affected the early direction of the investigation.
He said clarity emerged only after the post-mortem findings.
Amid the ongoing controversy, Pappu Yadav announced a new initiative and released a helpline number for female students living in girls’ hostels in Bihar.
He urged students not to fear and to seek help immediately if they face any threat or problem.
“I will personally come forward to help if needed, and I am prepared to face any consequences,” he said.
The case continues to trigger political reactions, with demands growing for swift action, transparency in the investigation, and stronger safety measures for female students living in hostels.
