Brisbane, March 19 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

The Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ) hosted an “Employment Through Language” workshop in Townsville, bringing together members of multilingual communities to explore career opportunities in interpreting and language-based professions.

The session focused on providing practical guidance and clear pathways into the sector, combining shared experiences with industry insights. Participants engaged in discussions on building sustainable careers by leveraging their language skills.

The workshop featured contributions from ECCQ representative Anna Rolandsen, Richard Holliman from the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI), and Despina Amanatidou from 2M Language Services. The speakers shared valuable knowledge on certification processes, specialisation options and industry expectations.

Key topics included NAATI certification, career progression and practical steps required to enter the profession. Interactive activities were also conducted to help participants map out their individual career pathways.

Organisers said the workshop aimed to empower community members by enhancing their confidence and equipping them with the tools needed to turn language abilities into meaningful employment opportunities.

The event highlighted the growing demand for language services and the important role multilingual communities play in strengthening Australia’s diverse workforce.
