AHINDA communities betrayed under Siddaramaiah-led K’taka govt, will reject Congress in bypolls: BJP

Davanagere, April 1 (IANS) Alleging injustice to AHINDA communities, Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary and MLA, V. Sunil Kumar, said on Wednesday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who came to power invoking the name of AHINDA, has continuously failed these sections of society.

He said that even after completing three years in power in Karnataka, the Congress government has failed to deliver justice to any section of the society.

It can be noted that AHINDA stands for Alpasankhyataru (Minorities), Hindulidavaru (Backward Classes), and Dalitaru (Dalits).

Speaking at a press conference in connection with the Davanagere South by-election, BJP leader Sunil Kumar said that the Chief Minister has repeatedly claimed in various forums that he would protect the interests of AHINDA communities, but has instead deceived them.

He alleged that Siddaramaiah used AHINDA for political speeches but did not provide any real benefits to the community.

He said the state government has been a complete failure over the past three years.

Funds announced in the previous budget for various corporations under backward classes have not been released, which, BJP leader Sunil Kumar said, is evident from the state government’s own data.

“While the state government gains publicity through announcements, it has reduced allocations for several schemes, resulting in grave injustice,” he added.

He also said that Siddaramaiah, during his visit to Davanagere, claims to have helped AHINDA communities significantly, but in reality, the Congress has done great injustice to them.

He urged voters to reject the state government in the upcoming by-election for failing to safeguard the interests of these communities.

BJP leader Sunil Kumar alleged that the state’s social and educational survey report by former Advocate General Madhusudhan Naik has been sidelined.

Though the survey was conducted in September 2025 and the report was expected within a month, it has still not been released even in April 2026.

He said that the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has remained silent on the issue.

He also alleged that earlier reports such as the 2014 Kantharaju report and the 2025 Jayaprakash Hegde report were also discarded without valid reasons, and the same fate may await the Madhusudhan Naik report.

BJP leader Sunil Kumar said that Rs 500 crore of taxpayers’ money was spent on the survey, yet it was not even mentioned in the state budget.

“Despite raising questions, the state government has remained silent, leading to injustice for backward classes,” he added.

He also accused the state government of quietly planning to remove outsourced employees.

He said that there is administrative confusion, and despite around 2.75 lakh vacant posts, the state government has failed to fill them.

“Though the state government had announced filling 25,000 posts, it now claims to lack funds.”

BJP leader Sunil Kumar alleged that Below Poverty Line cards have been cancelled and pensions reduced on various pretexts to manage funds for guarantee schemes.

He claimed that the state government has neglected all previous schemes by the previous BJP government and is under the illusion that guarantees alone amount to development.

Appealing to voters, the BJP leader urged them to elect BJP candidates in both Assembly constituencies of Belagavi and Davanagere, saying that the election results would signal the beginning of the downfall of the Congress-led state government.

Former State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP MLA B.P. Harish, district party general secretary Jagadish, state party media committee member Avinash, media coordinator Vishwas, and others were present.

Speaking to the media in Bagalkot, former Minister Aravind Limbavali said that people are describing the state government as development-deficient.

He added that while Chief Minister Siddaramaiah repeatedly claims to be a leader of AHINDA, there is growing anger over injustice done to AHINDA communities and Dalits.

He said that during the previous BJP’s tenure, reservation for SC and ST communities was increased, but the present state government has reduced it.

He remarked sarcastically that this is the “major contribution” of the Siddaramaiah-led state government, adding that these communities have been pushed into a state of uncertainty.

BJP leader Sunil Kumar alleged that funds earmarked for the development of SC and ST communities are being diverted for other purposes and are now being used to finance free schemes.

He also criticised the state government for creating confusion over internal reservation.

He said that people would teach a lesson to the Congress-led state government for its “anti-people” and “anti-Dalit” policies in both Assembly constituencies set for bypolls.

He also urged the state government to immediately fill vacant posts in the interest of youth.
