New Delhi, April 12 (IANS) The passing of Asha Bhosle on Sunday has left the nation in deep sorrow, with Union Ministers expressing grief and remembering her as a timeless voice whose songs will continue to echo across generations.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that Asha Bhosle was the embodiment of a sweet voice and unparalleled singing, who elevated Indian music to new heights over decades.

He described her voice as more than a confluence of notes, calling it an unspoken emotional bond that cannot be captured in words.

“Didi Asha Bhosle ji, the embodiment of sweet voice and unparalleled singing, elevated Indian music to new heights over decades,” he said.

“The songs she sang will continue to resonate across generations just like this,” Goyal mentioned.

This moment is one of profound emotion and an irreplaceable loss for her family, everyone connected to the world of art, and millions of fans, he added.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also expressed grief, calling the news of her demise extremely heartbreaking.

He noted that over a career spanning more than eight decades, Asha Bhosle recorded nearly 12,000 songs and enchanted generations with her melodies, helping Indian music gain global recognition.

“Her immortal songs will forever resonate in our hearts,” Scindia stated.

Echoing similar sentiments, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said he was deeply saddened by her passing.

He described her as one of the most successful and prolific singers of Indian cinema whose captivating melodies kept generations spellbound.

“Known for her range and versatility, Asha Ji’s work, in multiple languages, includes film music, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian Classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, Rabindra Sangeets and Nazrul Geetis,” Puri stated.

“Her melodious voice will continue to live in the hearts of legions of her fans and admirers; and inspire upcoming singers and students of music,” he noted.
