New Delhi, April 16 (IANS) Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Thursday congratulated students, teachers, and parents on the outstanding performance of government schools in the CBSE Class X results 2026, in which the city recorded a pass percentage better than the national average of 93.70 per cent.

Delhi government schools recorded a pass percentage of 97.23 per cent, marking a significant jump of 2.59 per cent from 94.64 per cent in 2025, and successfully outpacing the national average of 93.70 per cent, he said.

Sood stated that this result is not coincidental, but a direct reflection of the empowering ecosystem built under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

He added that the improvement is systemic and broad-based, visible not in select schools but across the entire network of government schools in Delhi, the statement said.

He highlighted that 457 schools achieved 100 per cent results this year, a sharp rise from 300 last year, and 924 schools crossed the 90 per cent mark, compared to 529 previously.

Learning outcomes across government schools have also shown consistent and measurable improvement, further reflecting the depth of this transformation, he said.

A total of 1,88,460 students appeared in the examination this year, of whom 1,83,246 passed. Among individual achievers, 26 students scored 95 per cent or higher, 540 scored between 90 per cent and 95 per cent, and 5,202 scored between 80 per cent and 90 per cent.

Sood expressed great pride that girl students led the results with a pass percentage of 97.37 per cent, surpassing boys at 97.09 per cent.

He stated that the Delhi government remains committed to ensuring that distance never stands in the way of a girl’s education, and has made a provision of Rs 90 crore to provide free bicycles to approximately 1.3 lakh girl students in Class 9.

The Education Minister stated that results like these do not emerge in isolation; they are nurtured in future-ready environments.

He said 9,000 smart classrooms have been established this year, with an overall target of 21,000, supported by 175 modern computer labs and 125 digitised libraries.

This infrastructure ensures that every student, regardless of background, has equitable access to 21st-century technology.

He also highlighted that the 75 CM SHRI Schools established by the Delhi government are setting new benchmarks by integrating AI-powered language labs and career labs, preparing students not just for examinations, but for life.

Backed by a strong Rs 19,148 crore education budget, the government remains committed to building student confidence, capability, and character, he said.

Sood reiterated that under CM Rekha Gupta, Delhi has moved from promises to proof.

“This achievement is not an overnight success; it is the outcome of continuous investment in better infrastructure, innovative learning, and a strong focus on every child’s growth. The goal remains clear: a world-class education ecosystem for every child in Delhi,” Sood said.
