New Delhi, April 20 (IANS) A violent confrontation fuelled by a long-standing rivalry resulted in the death of a 65-year-old man and left another critically injured in North-East Delhi’s Seelampur area early Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 8.00 a.m. within the jurisdiction of the Seelampur Police Station. According to authorities, the deceased has been identified as Ismail (65). The second victim, a 45-year-old man, sustained severe injuries, particularly to his eye and remains in critical condition at Pravesh Chandra Hospital.

Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Crime Teams arrived at the scene shortly after the attack to secure evidence. Investigators recovered a pistol and a knife from the spot.

Mehjabeen, the daughter of the deceased, said, “My father was drinking tea early in the morning; he was alone. The accused, Danish, came towards him carrying a knife and a pistol. He stabbed my father while his sister and mother were with him. There had been some minor quarrels recently. I don’t know why he was so angry, not just with us, but with everyone. Danish used to threaten us, but we never took it seriously.”

This tragedy follows another double murder in South Delhi’s CR Park area on April 18, where a father and son were stabbed to death over financial disputes. In that case, Rakesh Sood (62) and his son Karan (27) were declared dead on arrival at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket. A third victim, Rahul, survived the attack and is currently undergoing treatment. Police had detained Asad, a neighbour in the Tara Apartments complex, in connection with that incident.

During the investigation, police identified Asad, a resident of Tara Apartments, as the accused. He was detained for questioning. Police officials had said the accused allegedly attacked the victims with a sharp weapon before fleeing the spot.

Eyewitnesses and visuals from the spot showed blood scattered on the ground. The area was later cordoned off as police teams carried out a detailed inspection.
