A special dinner was hosted in Melbourne to honour the contributions of Amitabh Mattoo, Founding Director of the Australia India Institute, for his long-standing role in strengthening India–Australia academic and policy engagement.
The event was hosted by the Institute’s CEO, Lisa Singh, who acknowledged Prof Mattoo’s leadership and his continued association with the Institute as a Distinguished Fellow.
The gathering brought together policymakers, academics, and community representatives, highlighting the growing importance of institutional collaboration in deepening bilateral ties.
Among those present was Tim Watts, along with representatives from the Consulate General of India, Melbourne, who shared perspectives on the expanding India–Australia relationship.
Speakers noted that Prof Mattoo’s work has contributed significantly to advancing dialogue, research, and cooperation between the two countries across multiple sectors.
The Australia India Institute, based at the University of Melbourne, continues to play a key role in fostering connections between academia, government, and industry, strengthening engagement between India and Australia.
