New Delhi, May 6 (IANS) The two burglars and three receivers of stolen property have been arrested in connection with a theft case, said the Delhi Police on Wednesday.

The arrests were made by the staff of Police Station Palam Village in the South West District. The accused have been identified as Manoj alias Noni (26), a resident of JJ Colony, Palam Village, and Akash (26), a resident of JJ Colony, Sector-7, Dwarka. The police also arrested three receivers of stolen goods — Sagar (34), Farender Singh (34), and Munazir (38) from different parts of the area.

With their arrest, the police recovered stolen case property, including one water motor, one HP gas cylinder, two aluminium patellas, and one aluminium lid.

According to officials, the case was registered on April 28, vide e-FIR No. 80034817/2026 at PS Palam Village. A dedicated team comprising ASI Sanjeev Kumar, Head Constables Harender and Satpal, and Constable Babloo Yadav was formed under the leadership of SHO Anant Dhanraj Singh, and under the close supervision of ACP Anil Kumar, Sub-Division Delhi Cantt, to apprehend the accused.

During the investigation, the team activated local informers, utilised technical surveillance, and conducted an extensive analysis of CCTV footage from multiple locations. Police personnel were also deployed in the area to gather intelligence about active criminals. The analysis of CCTV footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspects.

On April 30, the police received specific information regarding the presence of the accused in the Palam Village area. Acting swiftly, the team laid a trap and apprehended Manoj and Akash. During interrogation, their involvement in the burglary was confirmed.

At their instance, the police also apprehended the receivers of stolen property. Sagar, a resident of Palam Extension, Farender Singh from Najafgarh, and Munazir, a scrap dealer from Palam Colony, were taken into custody. Further investigation and sustained interrogation led to the recovery of the stolen items linked to the case.

Police said Manoj and Akash are painters by profession and habitual drinkers. They allegedly committed burglaries to earn easy money and sustain their addictions. Manoj is also previously involved in a criminal case registered at Dwarka South police station under relevant sections of the IPC.

Sagar, who studied up to Class 6, works as a painter and part-time street food vendor. He allegedly received stolen utensils from the accused. Munazir, also educated up to Class 6, works as a scrap dealer and is accused of receiving the stolen water motor. Farender Singh, who also studied up to Class 6, works as a painter and part-time cook at a local PG accommodation and allegedly received the stolen gas cylinder.

The police have recovered the stolen items, including a water motor, an HP gas cylinder, two aluminium patellas, and one aluminium lid (dhakkan), from the accused persons.

Further investigation into the case is underway, and efforts are being made to ascertain whether the accused are involved in other similar crimes.
