Bihar TRE-4 agitation: FIR filed against student leader Dilip Kumar and 5000 unknown people

Patna, May 9 (IANS) Tension prevailed in Patna after police initiated action against teacher aspirants protesting over the demand for the release of the TRE-4 recruitment notification and amendments to the regulations of the Bihar Public Service Commission.

Following the demonstration, police registered a case against four named individuals and nearly 5,000 unidentified protesters in connection with the unrest.

“Four people—including student leader Dilip Kumar—have been arrested so far,” said Diksha, SP Central of Patna district.

Police authorities stated that CCTV footage from the protest site is being examined to identify additional participants, while several individuals are currently being questioned.

“The protesters disrupted law and order, obstructed traffic movement, and misbehaved with police personnel during the demonstration. Police personnel and demonstrators have been injured in this incident,” Diksha said.

However, the protesting aspirants have strongly denied the allegations, claiming that their march was entirely peaceful and that the police resorted to a lathi-charge without provocation before filing what they described as false cases against them.

The aspirants further alleged that four key figures leading the protest movement, including Dilip Kumar and Shahbaz, were detained overnight at the police station and allegedly assaulted by them.

According to the protesters, the detained individuals were later taken to Gardanibagh Hospital for medical treatment.

They also claimed that the administration is preparing to send the arrested leaders to jail.

The demonstrators said they have been waiting for the TRE-4 teacher recruitment vacancies for nearly two years.

Despite repeated assurances from the Education Department and the BPSC regarding the issuance of the official advertisement, no notification has yet been released, causing growing frustration among lakhs of aspirants across Bihar.

The protest march began from Patna College and moved toward the JP Roundabout area on Friday.

As the crowd swelled, a confrontation developed between the police and protesters, eventually resulting in chaos and an alleged baton charge by the police.

At present, security has been tightened in the area, and police officials say the situation remains under close monitoring.

The incident has once again brought attention to the mounting dissatisfaction among government job aspirants in Bihar over delayed recruitment processes and examination-related concerns.
