Jaipur, May 9 (IANS) In a major operation against organised crime and illegal arms networks, the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested a suspected gang associate identified as Anil Kumar alias Monty and recovered seven live cartridges from his residence.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused was in regular contact with fugitive gangster Sunil Kumar Meena, alias S.K., believed to be linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

This operation was conducted under the direction of Additional Director General of Police Dinesh M.N. and under the supervision of Inspector General of Police Rajesh Singh.

A team constituted under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Gyanchand Yadav acted on intelligence inputs indicating that the accused, Anil Kumar Jat alias Monty, was actively involved in arms trafficking and gang-related activities.

According to investigators, Anil Kumar Jat alias Monty is a resident of Bansa Kushalpura village under the Samod police station area in Jaipur Rural and had allegedly been in touch with fugitive gangster Sunil Meena for a long time.

Police sources stated that Sunil Meena, originally from Kartarpur Rural in Jalandhar, is currently absconding abroad.

Investigators suspect that he maintains links with foreign-based gangsters, including criminal networks operating from Pakistan.

Following coordinated intelligence-sharing with other agencies, Anti-Terrorism Squad officials detained the accused for interrogation.

During questioning, the accused allegedly disclosed that live cartridges had been hidden inside his house.

Acting on the information, the Anti-Terrorism Squad coordinated with the Jaipur Rural Police.

A police team led by Samod Police Station Station House Officer Gopichand, along with Sub-Inspector Babulal and his team, conducted a raid at the residence.

During the search operation, seven live cartridges concealed inside the staircase structure of the house were recovered and seized.

Police have registered a case against Anil Kumar Jat alias Monty under relevant provisions of the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.

Agencies are currently probing his alleged gang connections, sources of illegal weapons, and possible wider criminal networks.

The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad has appealed to the public to report any information regarding illegal possession, transportation, or trafficking of arms through its helpline at 0141-2610949.

Authorities stated that the identities of informants would be kept confidential and that suitable rewards would also be provided.
