Patna, May 11 (IANS) A shocking incident of violence has emerged from Bihar’s East Champaran district, where a BA Part III student was stabbed to death in broad daylight outside a college on Monday, triggering panic in the locality.

The victim, identified as Ritesh Kumar Yadav (25), son of Vidya Rai and a resident of Devpur Parsa (Ward No. 12) under Kalyanpur Police Station limits, had gone to appear for his BA Part III examination at AKRR College in Motihari.

According to family members, the incident occurred shortly after Ritesh exited the college gate upon completing his examination at around 11.30 a.m. on Monday.

He was allegedly ambushed by another student, identified as Saroj Rai, who launched a sudden knife attack on him.

Eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigation suggest that the accused stabbed Ritesh more than 15 times.

The victim collapsed near the college gate, bleeding profusely, leading to chaos among students and passersby present at the scene.

Amid the panic, the attacker managed to flee.

Local residents immediately informed the police and rushed the critically injured student to a nearby hospital.

However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police from Kotwa Police Station reached the spot soon after receiving information, took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

Swarn Prabhat, Superintendent of Police, East Champaran, also visited the crime scene and directed officials to expedite the investigation.

“Prima facie, the case appears to be the result of a personal dispute. The accused has been identified, and efforts are underway to arrest him soon. The post-mortem report confirms more than 15 stab injuries,” the SP said.

An FIR has been registered under the relevant Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections pertaining to murder at Kotwa Police Station.

District police have constituted a dedicated team to nab the accused.

The daylight murder has sparked fear and tension in the area, raising serious concerns over student safety and law and order around educational institutions.
