Friend dismisses rumours surrounding Prateek Yadav’s death; says it was sudden deterioration in health

Lucknow, May 13 (IANS) Following the demise of Prateek Yadav, son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, a friend on Wednesday urged people not to pay attention to rumours surrounding the incident, stating that his death was sudden and caused by a sudden deterioration in health.

Speaking to IANS, the friend said, “Do not pay attention to these rumours suggesting that something happened at home. His health suddenly deteriorated, and it was a sudden death. Earlier, he used to go to the gym regularly, but not recently. He was under business pressure. He did not have any serious illness.”

Sarvesh Pandey, Prateek Yadav’s gym partner, described him as a kind-hearted person and called the incident deeply tragic.

“He had a very good nature. This is a very tragic incident, and may God grant peace to his soul. He was brought to the Civil Hospital late last night, around 11 P.M. to 12 A.M. He later went back home, but his condition worsened significantly,” Pandey said.

He further added, “Treatment was ongoing, but his health deteriorated during the night. When I came here in the morning, I learnt about his death. I have also come to know that he had fallen in the bedroom and suffered a head injury.”

A relative of Aparna Yadav said that they came to know about the incident through social media. “By the time I received the news, he had already passed away. This is a very sad incident. The postmortem has been conducted,” the relative said.

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhana Gupta, passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday morning at the age of 38. The exact cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed, and a post-mortem examination is being conducted.

According to reports, Prateek had been battling lung-related health complications for a considerable period and was undergoing treatment for a blood clot in his lungs.

An MBA graduate from the University of Leeds, Prateek maintained a low political profile despite belonging to one of India’s most prominent political families. Instead, he focussed on his ventures in the fitness and real estate sectors. He owned a gym in Lucknow named ‘The Fitness Planet’ and was also associated with social work through an NGO dedicated to helping homeless individuals.

Known for his passion for fitness, Prateek frequently shared workout updates on social media. In 2012, he gained international attention after being featured as the ‘International Transformation of the Month’ on a renowned bodybuilding platform. He had then attributed his remarkable fitness journey to motivational advice from his father years earlier.

Prateek married Aparna Yadav in 2011 after an eight-year relationship. Their wedding drew several well-known personalities from politics, business, and entertainment. The couple later became parents to a daughter.

Earlier this year, Prateek had posted messages on his verified Instagram account expressing personal grievances against Aparna Yadav.
