New Delhi, May 14 (IANS) Union Rural Development minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to launch the ‘Grih Pravesh’ of over five lakh completed houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in Maharashtra’s Satara district on Friday.

The Union Minister will also hand over house keys to six PMAY-G beneficiaries, including the beneficiary associated with the completion of the 3 croreth house under the scheme.

The event, to be held at the Sainik School Ground in Satara, will also be attended by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Sunetra Ajit Pawar, along with senior government officials and beneficiaries.

On the occasion, the Union Minister will also issue PMAY-G Mother Sanction involving central assistance worth Rs 8,368.50 crore for Maharashtra for the financial year 2026-27. Approval for 35 road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-IV will also be announced, benefiting 35 rural habitations in the state.

State-level awards under the “Maha Awaas Abhiyan 2023-24” will also be distributed during the programme.

Notably, PMAY-G is a flagship scheme of the Central Government aimed at providing pucca houses with basic amenities to eligible rural households. Under PMAY-G, the Government of India has so far allocated a cumulative target of 4.15 crore houses to States and Union Territories, against which 3.91 crore houses have been sanctioned, and more than 3.03 crore houses have already been completed as of 11 May 2026.

In Maharashtra, 41.42 lakh houses have been sanctioned against a target of 43.80 lakh, while 17.92 lakh have already been completed. In Satara district alone, 24,848 houses have been completed out of 54,759 sanctioned houses.

The government said the PMGSY-IV projects, covering nearly 96 km, are aimed at improving all-weather rural connectivity and access to healthcare, education, markets and public services.

Maharashtra has already sanctioned over 34,000 km of rural roads and more than 1,000 bridges under PMGSY, with investments exceeding Rs 15,000 crore.
