Raipur, May 18 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Chhattisgarh on Sunday evening for a crucial three-day visit, receiving a grand welcome at the Raipur Airport.

A palpable sense of enthusiasm was evident among party workers regarding his arrival in the state. He was received at the airport by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao, Finance Minister OP Choudhary, along with numerous other senior ministers and legislators.

This visit is being regarded as extremely significant for the state’s development, as well as for ensuring peace and security in the Bastar region.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai described the visit as pivotal, stating that with the support of the Central government, Chhattisgarh is making rapid strides toward achieving peace, good governance, and development.

He added that under HM Amit Shah’s guidance and through the efforts of the double-engine government, Naxalism in the Bastar region has declined significantly while new avenues for development have opened up.

On Monday, May 18, HM Amit Shah will flag off vehicles for the Dial-112 emergency service in Raipur, an initiative aimed at providing prompt assistance during emergencies and strengthening the state’s law and order machinery, party sources said.

Following this event, he will proceed directly to Bastar to participate in several programs focused on development and security, aligning with the government’s primary focus on transforming Bastar into a Naxal-free region.

The visit will culminate on May 19 with a meeting of the Central Zonal Council in Bastar, featuring the participation of the Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

The session will focus on security, development, and inter-state coordination. This marks the first time such a high-profile meeting is being hosted in Bastar, a move considered a major step toward securing a new national identity for the region.

The state government remains highly optimistic that this visit will provide fresh momentum to development and security initiatives across Chhattisgarh.
