Jaipur, May 19 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party state president Madan Rathore hit back at the opposition over allegations related to water, fuel, and gas supply issues, accusing Congress leaders of indulging in political theatrics and spreading unnecessary confusion among the public.

Rathore said that, despite serving three terms as Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot failed to establish a permanent, robust water supply system across the state, including in Jodhpur.

He stated that it was a matter of concern that adequate infrastructure could not be developed despite Congress remaining in power for such a long period.

Rathore’s remarks came after Gehlot wrote a letter to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma highlighting the severe water crisis in Jodhpur and demanding the operation of a water train to the district.

Rathore said the current Bharatiya Janata Party government was working seriously to address the water crisis and ensure smooth supply across the state.

According to Rathore, while water supply in Jodhpur city remained largely normal, some issues had emerged in rural areas.

He added that the government was continuously working to ensure door-to-door water delivery and that temporary disruptions occurred due to a scheduled closure at the Bhakra Dam, with the situation now gradually returning to normal.

Targeting Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra, Rathore said Congress leaders should introspect before attempting to “gherao” the Bharatiya Janata Party office.

He claimed that the incidents over which Congress was levelling allegations had no connection with the Bharatiya Janata Party and were instead linked to individuals associated with the Congress party itself.

The Rajasthan Congress has announced a gherao of the Bharatiya Janata Party office on May 21 over the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test paper leak case.

On the issue of gas and fuel prices, Rathore accused the opposition of resorting to petty politics.

He said the opposition was fully aware of the tense situation prevailing in Gulf countries, where circumstances similar to war had emerged, and production centres were being targeted.

Despite this, he said the Central Government under PM Modi was taking effective steps to safeguard national interests and maintain uninterrupted essential supplies.

Rathore stated that Indian vessels continued to safely navigate through the Strait of Hormuz and that the Central Government remained constantly active in ensuring the availability of fuel and gas supplies.

Instead of spreading confusion, he said, the opposition should appreciate the government’s efforts.

He further remarked that the Prime Minister’s appeal for frugality and avoiding unnecessary expenditure was in the interest of both society and the nation.

Rathore said suggestions such as carpooling were practical and beneficial measures and should not be politicised.

Earlier, Rathore praised Bharatiya Janata Party worker Rena for setting up parindas (water pots for birds) despite being in fragile health herself.

In view of the scorching heat conditions, he appealed to people across the state to make arrangements for food and water for animals and birds.

He urged citizens to install water pots and ensure they remain regularly filled during the summer season.
