Guwahati, May 21 (IANS) Newly elected MLA from Assam’s Ranganadi Assembly constituency, Rishiraj Hazarika, on Thursday pledged to work towards transforming the region into one of the state’s most developed constituencies over the next five years.

Speaking to reporters on the floor of the Assam Assembly, Hazarika said the people of Ranganadi had not sent him to Dispur merely as a political leader, but as a representative entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding their aspirations and welfare.

“I will make every possible effort to raise the voice of the people and reflect their thoughts, concerns and expectations,” Hazarika said.

The MLA stressed that serving every resident of Ranganadi was not only his political duty but also a moral responsibility.

He said he viewed the people of the constituency as members of his own family and pledged to remain accessible to them.

Hazarika further expressed confidence that under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the government would be able to transform Ranganadi into one of the leading developed Assembly constituencies of the state over the next five years.

He termed the responsibility entrusted to him by the people as an “emotional matter”, noting that he came from a middle-class family.

According to Hazarika, the trust reposed in him by the people has increased his sense of accountability towards public service and development.

“The people of Ranganadi did not send me to Guwahati only as a leader. They sent me as their representative with hopes and aspirations. It is my duty to fulfil those expectations through sincere work and dedication,” he added.

The legislator also said that the constituency’s developmental challenges and public grievances would be addressed through close coordination with the state government.

He reiterated that his focus would remain on strengthening infrastructure, improving public services and ensuring inclusive development for all sections of society in the constituency.
