Kolkata, May 23 (IANS) A minor schoolgirl in the Behala area of south Kolkata has alleged that she was sexually assaulted and subsequently blackmailed for over a month by a female classmate and an unidentified youth, police said on Saturday.

The matter came to light on Saturday after the minor’s family lodged a complaint with the police.

According to the police, the minor schoolgirl was taken into a car by one of her classmates, who is a female, and another unidentified youth. She was drugged with chocolate, taken into a secluded place, and allegedly sexually assaulted by the youth while her female friend recorded the act.

It is alleged that she was continuously blackmailed for over a month with the video and threatened that it would be circulated on social media if she disclosed the matter.

The family recently learned about the incident after the girl panicked, informed her mother, and filed a complaint against her daughter’s female friend and the youth at the Sarshuna police station in the southern outskirts of Kolkata. Based on that, the police have registered a case. The police have started an investigation by monitoring multiple CCTV footages.

Police said that the incident took place about a month ago. The victim girl met the accused youth through her school friend. The girl was lured to go out with them after school. Accordingly, the school friend arranged a car. The unidentified youth was driving the car. The car was parked some distance from the school. Her classmate friend took the victim girl to the car. The victim’s family alleged that the girl was lured with a chocolate laced with drugs.

The accused female friend of the victim is also a minor. The police are investigating and searching for the main accused, the boy. The police said that they are also trying to identify the car by going through the CCTV footage around the school.
