Bengaluru, May 23 (IANS) Karnataka BJP president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashoka and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Saturday night welcomed BJP national president Nitin Nabin at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

The BJP leaders, along with party office-bearers and workers, received Nitin Nabin upon his arrival in the city.

State co-incharge Sudhakar Reddy, Assembly Deputy Chief Whip Doddanagouda H. Patil, Legislative Council Deputy Chief Whip N. Ravikumar and former minister Prabhu Chouhan were also present on the occasion along with several senior party leaders.

Earlier on Saturday, Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra said that Nitin Nabin was visiting Bengaluru on his maiden trip to the state after assuming charge as the party’s national president.

Posting on X, Vijayendra stated: “On behalf of all karyakartas and well-wishers across Karnataka, I heartily welcome Shri Nitin Nabin Ji, National President of BJP, India, to Bengaluru on his maiden visit to Karnataka.

“Rooted in the ideology of ‘Nation First’, his dynamic leadership and strong organisational vision have been a constant source of inspiration for our karyakartas across the country. His presence in Karnataka has energised the cadre and injected fresh momentum into the organisation at every level.”

Speaking to reporters at the state BJP office in Bengaluru, Vijayendra said Nabin’s visit would include meetings with senior party leaders, legislators and party workers.

According to Vijayendra, the BJP national president will visit former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa’s residence on Sunday morning for breakfast.

He will later offer prayers at the Kadumalleshwara Temple before arriving at the state BJP headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, at around 10 a.m.

The state BJP president said Nabin would hold discussions with BJP MPs, MLAs and Legislative Council members for nearly two hours and review the current political situation in the state.

Nabin will also participate in the party’s core committee meeting and later attend a training camp being organised in Bengaluru North district.

“It is a matter of pride for us that the BJP President is participating in the training programme. His presence will inspire party workers,” Vijayendra said.
