New Delhi, May 24 (IANS) Inaugurating development works in Shiv Vihar Colony of the Bawana Assembly constituency, Delhi Minister and area MLA Ravinder Indraj Singh said that the Delhi government is undertaking extensive development of rural areas through the Chief Minister Development Fund.

He said concrete steps are being taken to expedite long-pending basic infrastructure projects in villages.

Ravinder Indraj Singh stated that residents of the area had been demanding these development works for a long time, but the previous government had remained limited to making assurances only.

He said that the present Delhi government is now completing these works on a priority basis.

Ravinder Indraj Singh said that despite being an important constituency of Delhi, the Bawana Assembly area had remained deprived of development for several years, but now the development of the region is being accorded top priority.

He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta strengthening essential civic infrastructure such as construction of new roads, sewer lines, water pipelines and drains is being undertaken with priority.

In another development, a programme was organised in the Pooth Kalan Gram Sabha area of Bawana constituency regarding the commencement of development works related to drains, streets and sewer lines in 10-foot-wide lanes.

On the occasion, senior citizens of the Gram Sabha also organised a felicitation programme to express their gratitude to Ravinder Indraj Singh.

The Minister appealed to citizens to remain vigilant regarding the quality of development works and actively monitor the execution of projects.

He said that if any deficiency in the quality of work is observed at any level, it should be immediately brought to notice. He asserted that no compromise with the quality of development works would be accepted.

He stated that public participation is the greatest strength behind development. Without the cooperation of citizens, it is not possible to accelerate development works effectively.

He said that the government and the public together will build such infrastructure that residents do not face drainage or other basic civic issues for the next 15–20 years.
