MP Kakoli Dastidar attends CM Adhikari’s administrative meeting days after quitting Trinamool post; sparks speculation

Kolkata, May 26 (IANS) Days after senior MP, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, resigned as Trinamool’s Barasat organisational district president, she attended Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s administrative meeting on Tuesday, sparking speculation about her next move. Not only Dastidar, but three Trinamool MLAs from North 24 Parganas district were also present at the administrative meeting at Kalyani in Nadia district.

Kakoli attended the meeting with the administrative officers of North 24 Parganas, Nadia and Hooghly districts at the APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium.

Also present were newly-elected Trinamool MLA Anisur Rahaman Bidesh from Deganga, Bina Mondal from Swarupnagar and Abdul Matin from Haroa.

Following the development, speculations about Kakoli leaving the Trinamool Congress have intensified.

However, after forming the government, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari had announced that Opposition party representatives would also be invited to administrative meetings.

According to BJP sources, Trinamool representatives including Kakoli had been called on the Chief Minister’s orders.

As per the party, there is no politics here. Trinamool MLAs are also saying the same thing. In Bina’s words, “I have come to this administrative meeting for the development of my Assembly constituency.”

On the other hand, Abdul Matin said, “The state government called me. That is why I have come. I cannot say what happened before. I have come as an MLA.”

Deganga MLA Anisur Rahaman Bidesh said, “Most of my Assembly constituency is marginalised. The state government’s cooperation is desirable for overall development.”

However, Kakoli’s presence at Suvendu’s meeting is significant in state politics. Recently, Kakoli was removed from the post of Chief Whip of the Trinamool Parliamentary Party. That responsibility has been given to Sreerampur MP Kalyan Banerjee.

Following this, Kakoli made a suggestive post on social media. She wrote, “Known her since 76, started the journey in 84. Today I am rewarded for four decades of loyalty.”

Incidentally, she also resigned from the post of Barasat organisational district Trinamool president on Sunday. As a result, her presence in the administrative meeting of Suvendu Adhikari is considered suggestive.
