New Delhi, May 28 (IANS) After BJP MP Harsh Malhotra took over as Delhi’s new party President, BJP leaders in the national Capital emphasised that it is Malhotra’s organisational as well as administrative experience which would be helpful in shaping the party’s future in the Union Territory.

Speaking to IANS, former Delhi BJP chief, Virendra Sachdeva said: “Every responsibility in the party is important. The responsibility that Harsh Malhotra has been given…he has a lot of experience, both administrative and organisational.”

“Undoubtedly, the party will benefit from his experience, and together we will work to take it to even greater heights,” he added.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta underlined that the BJP is one family where every member’s role is important.

“Harsh Malhotra has been entrusted with this new responsibility to take the Delhi organisation forward, to empower every Bharatiya Janata Party worker, and to strengthen the organisation. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to him for this,” she told reporters.

She also congratulated Sachdeva who “worked hard for the welfare of the Union Territory”.

While congratulating Malhotra, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that the former Delhi party chief’s tenure was also very successful.

Referring to the BJP’s victory in the Delhi Assembly polls, he said: “After 27 years, we had got a victorious president in Virendra Sachdeva. Now, under the leadership of Harsh Malhotra, we will further take the Bharatiya Janata Party, Delhi Pradesh, forward.”

Mayor Pravesh Wahi also praised Sachdeva, saying, “He has worked very well. Under his (Sachdeva’s) leadership, the party won major elections in the capital and the BJP government was formed in Delhi. Undoubtedly, the party will utilise him in a positive way in the future too.”

Delhi Minister Ashish Sood took aim at the Opposition, saying, “In the Bharatiya Janata Party, leadership changes take place democratically after every short period of time. This is not new for us; it may be new for those where only members of one family become the president.”

Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that Harsh Malhotra’s appointment as the Delhi BJP President, will help Chief Minister Rekha Gupta-led government to further implement the welfare schemes at the ground level. “The Bharatiya Janata Party will be further strengthened in Delhi,” he added.

Also, Sirsa echoed that Malhotra’s experience will benefit all the leaders and workers in the party.

BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal said all the leaders are aware of Harsh Malhotra’s working style. “Under his (Malhotra’s) leadership, all of us will work towards making Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Viksit Delhi’ vision, a reality,” he said.
