Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), June 3 (IANS) Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama was on Wednesday formally presented his Grammy Award at his residence here by renowned sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, accompanied by his sons Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash.

The award, received earlier this year in the ‘Best Audio Book, Narration and Storytelling Recording’ category, recognises the album “Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama”, a collaboration blending his reflections on compassion, peace and the oneness of humanity with Indian classical music.

The collaboration highlights the power of music, wisdom, and compassion in fostering inner peace and understanding across the world.

“It’s a great honour to be here to offer a Grammy Award to His Holiness the Dalai Lama,” Amjad Ali Khan told the media here.

On receiving the award in February, the Nobel Peace Laureate had said, “I receive this recognition with gratitude and humility. I don’t see it as something personal, but as a recognition of our shared universal responsibility. I truly believe that peace, compassion, care for our environment, and an understanding of the oneness of humanity are essential for the collective well-being of all eight billion human beings. I’m grateful that this Grammy recognition can help spread these messages more widely.”

Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel took to social media to congratulate His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama on winning a Grammy Award.

In his message, the Speaker had noted that His Holiness received his first-ever Grammy in the category of Best Audiobook, Narration and Storytelling Recording, calling it a recognition of the lasting power of the spoken word and storytelling to convey wisdom and universal human values.

Tibetan political leader Sikyong Penpa Tsering took to social media to congratulate Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on winning a Grammy Award for his audiobook Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Globetrotting the Dalai Lama, who is considered a living Buddha of compassion, in his latest book, “In Voice for the Voiceless”, offers insights into his decades-long dealings with China.

In the book, the Dalai Lama, a reincarnation of past Dalai Lamas, reminds the world of Tibet’s unresolved struggle for freedom and the hardship his people continue to face in their homeland. The book captures his extraordinary life, uncovering what it means to lose your home to a repressive invader and build a life in exile; dealing with the existential crisis of a nation, its people, and its culture and religion; and envisioning the path forward.

His Holiness was 16 years old when Communist China invaded Tibet in 1950, was only 19 when he had his first meeting with Chairman Mao Zedong in Beijing, and was 25 years old when he was forced to escape to India and became a leader in exile.
