New Delhi, June 5 (IANS) India and Greece on Friday reiterated their commitment to fight against cross-border terrorism during the Foreign Office Consultations held in New Delhi.

“14th Round of India-Greece Foreign Office Consultations were held in New Delhi on 05 June 2026, co-chaired by Ambassador Sibi George, Secretary (West) and Ambassador Andreas Fryganas, Director General for Political Affairs,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) wrote on X.

According to MEA, both sides reiterated their commitment to fight against cross-border terrorism.

“Both sides reviewed the entire gamut of the bilateral relations with focus on political and defence relations, trade and investment, cultural and people-to-people cooperation, which will further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Greece,” the MEA noted.

They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

In February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis held a meeting on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, also holding discussions on boosting connectivity, especially through the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

According to the MEA, during their meeting, the two leaders reviewed various aspects of India-Greece strategic partnership, especially in the field of trade and commerce, defence and security, tourism, culture and collaboration in AI and other emerging technologies.

“The leaders discussed boosting connectivity, especially through IMEC, and looked forward to the early implementation of India-EU (European Union) FTA (Free Trade Agreement), which will bring immense benefits to the economy of both countries and lead to higher tech collaboration, investments and jobs, particularly for the youth. Prime Minister thanked PM Mitsotakis of Greece for his strong support to India in its fight against terrorism,” the MEA stated after the meeting.

Also in February, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met Chief of the Hellenic Navy, Vice Admiral Dimitrios Eleftherios Kataras, in New Delhi, holding discussions on advancing defence cooperation between India and Greece.

In a statement shared on X, the Directorate of Public Relations, Ministry of Defence, stated, “Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh met Chief of the Hellenic Navy VAdm Dimitrios Eleftherios and held wide-ranging discussions to advance India–Greece defence cooperation.”

“Discussions focused on maritime security, shipbuilding and autonomous platforms, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the Strategic Partnership,” it added.
