Jaipur, June 6 (IANS) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a thunderstorm and rainfall alert for 25 districts across Rajasthan. However, weather experts have warned that intense heat and heatwave conditions may return to western Rajasthan from June 8 onward. Rajasthan continues to experience relief from the summer heat as pre-monsoon activity remains active across the state.

Several districts, including Banswara, Bundi and Bhilwara, received up to three inches of rainfall between the evening of June 4 and the morning of June 5. Hailstorms were also reported from parts of Churu, Hanumangarh and Bikaner. The recent spell of rain and strong winds has brought a significant drop in temperatures, with mercury falling by up to 5 degrees Celsius in several regions. Daytime temperatures in cities such as Jaipur, Dausa, Karauli, Dungarpur and Nagaur remained below 35 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorm and rainfall activity is likely to continue in many parts of the state over the next two days before weather conditions gradually become dry from June 8.

While the rain is expected to provide continued relief from heatwave conditions, residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds. Despite the weather change, Phalodi recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 42.2 degrees Celsius, while Jodhpur registered the highest minimum temperature at 31.9 degrees Celsius.

The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Vanasthali (Tonk) at 21.8 degrees Celsius. Jaisalmer recorded a maximum temperature of 42.1 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours. Other major temperature readings included 41.5 degrees Celsius in Sri Ganganagar, 40.8 degrees Celsius in Barmer, 39.5 degrees Celsius in Jodhpur, 39.2 degrees Celsius in Bikaner, 38 degrees Celsius in Jalore, Churu and Pali, 37.5 degrees Celsius in Hanumangarh, 37.2 degrees Celsius in Pilani and 37 degrees Celsius in Udaipur.

Meanwhile, rainfall between June 4 and 5 led to a noticeable drop in temperatures across the Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Kota and Bikaner divisions.

The highest rainfall of 75 mm was recorded in Shahpura (Bhilwara). Other significant rainfall figures included 45 mm in Ajmer; 34 mm each in Nainwan (Bundi), Kachola (Bhilwara) and Bayana (Bharatpur); and 31 mm each in Bhainsrodgarh (Chittorgarh) and Vair (Bharatpur).

Weather conditions changed abruptly across parts of the Bikaner division on Friday afternoon. Dense cloud cover developed over Bikaner, Hanumangarh and Churu districts, triggering dust storms, strong winds and rain at several locations. Hail was also reported from isolated areas.
