‘Big achievement amid global economic crisis’: NDA lauds 7.7 per cent GDP growth

New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) NDA leaders, on Saturday, hailed India’s stronger‑than‑expected 7.7 per cent expansion in fiscal 2026, calling it a “remarkable achievement” for the country even as economies around the globe are reeling from the impact of the West Asia conflict, given the worldwide surge in crude oil prices.

West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya said, “When the whole world is living in a state of instability, India’s growth is giving a new hope to the entire world. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s economy has reached a stage where it is now prepared to emerge as the world’s number one power by 2047.”

Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Saraogi drew a comparison of India’s economic growth to that of China and the USA.

“Compared to the rest of the world, India is becoming economically much stronger. China’s growth rate is 4.9 per cent, the United States’ is 2.3 per cent, and the average for the G7 countries is 1.6 per cent, while India’s stands at 7.7 per cent. Indicators such as industrial growth and domestic demand also remain strong,” he told IANS.

Echoing similar views, JD-U spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad highlighted that despite the economic challenges faced by countries worldwide, India has achieved a “remarkable performance”.

“Despite so many global challenges that occurred during the tenure of PM Modi, including the Covid pandemic or West Asia conflict, India has performed well across all sectors,” he mentioned.

JD-U spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also asserted that the increase in India’s GDP growth amid the West Asia crisis is “peaceful” for the country.

However, he cautioned that the country is still facing “economic challenges.”

“In terms of the export of oil, India is looking at a critical economic challenge. That is why once conflicts across the globe come to a halt, our nation will keep progressing,” he told IANS.

Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal maintained that the rise in crude oil prices in India is far less in comparison to other countries.

“It is India’s biggest achievement that today the country has garnered the ability to deal with any social or economic challenges,” he stressed.

BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain echoed: “Due to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, the economies of many countries around the world are in very bad condition. In such a situation, our leader, PM Modi, has implemented such good policies that today our GDP is performing among the best in the world.”
