Patna, June 6 (IANS) Soon after being named as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Bihar Legislative Council elections, Bhojpuri cinema star Pawan Singh visited the party’s state headquarters in Patna on Saturday, where he met senior leaders, including Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi.

Pawan Singh is scheduled to file his nomination papers on June 8 along with other candidates of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Pawan Singh thanked the BJP leadership and reaffirmed his commitment to the party.

Speaking after meeting the state president and other leaders, he said the party was like his mother, and he considered himself a true servant of the BJP family.

He added that he intends to remain dedicated to the organisation throughout his life and wishes to work sincerely in the service of the party and the people.

The BJP has announced four candidates for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections, including Pawan Singh, Sanjay Mayukh, Anil Kumar Pathak, and Sheila Pandit.

Among these names, Pawan Singh’s candidature has attracted the greatest public and political attention, ending months of speculation regarding his future role in active politics.

All NDA candidates, including those from the BJP and its alliance partners, are expected to submit their nomination papers on June 8 ahead of the Bihar Legislative Council elections.

Political observers view the BJP’s decision to field the Bhojpuri Power Star as an effort to combine organisational experience with mass public appeal, particularly across the Bhojpuri-speaking regions of Bihar.

His formal entry into the electoral arena is being seen as one of the most notable developments in the current round of Legislative Council elections.

The MLC elections for the 10 seats will be held on June 18.

Janata Dal (United) has announced four candidates for the elections: Nishant Kumar, Bharti Mehta, Shivrani Devi Prajapati, and Lalan Prasad.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has fielded Ashraf Ansari as its candidate for the MLC election.
