New Delhi, June 10 (IANS) Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and L. Murugan, on Wednesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s record for longest and continuously serving head of an elected Indian government, saying his “tenure is not only historic” but also reflects the work done for the people.

Speaking to IANS, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said: “Prime Minister Modi has completed 4,399 days, breaking the record of late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. That is indeed a record, because a person from a very ordinary and poor family becoming the Prime Minister and leading the country for such a long time is historic.”

He added that PM Modi has not just completed a historic tenure, but has bought a “change” into the country.

“Earlier people used to think that the country cannot function without the Congress. But earlier, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee led the country through a coalition government and now PM Modi has completed 12 years surpassing late PM Nehru’s record,” he said.

He added that PM Modi has proved that the BJP-led NDA can provide a “stable and able” government that has given a direction to the country.

Union Minister Joshi gave few examples of the Centre’s achievements under PM Modi’s leadership, saying India carried out Operation Sindoor, achieved “six times growth in electronic manufacturing”, growth in exports and also abrogated Article 370.

“Significant developments in the railway sector have also been brought during PM Modi’s regime,” he said.

Union Minister of State L. Murugan called it a “historic day in Indian politics and Indian democracy”.

“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 12 years of continuous governance. He is always working towards the nation’s welfare. He has a vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ towards which PM Modi, and the entire government, is working tirelessly,” he told reporters.

He emphasised on India’s infrastructural development, saying “Significant work has been carried out regarding bullet trains, railway facility, highways and airports during PM Modi’s tenure.”

“Today, throughout the nation, people are praying for PM Modi’s good health and long life,” Murugan added.
