New Delhi, June 13 (IANS) The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) announced a rebate of 10 per cent on property tax for the financial year 2026-27 if taxpayers pay their dues on or before June 30, an official said on Saturday.

All property owners are encouraged to avail the scheme by making timely payment of their Property Tax and thereby enjoy substantial savings through the rebate offered by NDMC, said a statement.

Property owners may make their tax payments through the online portal of NDMC or by using other authorised modes of payment as notified by the Council, it said.

The NDMC appealed to all its area taxpayers to avoid the last-minute rush and make their payments well before the due date to avail the rebate benefit.

For further information and assistance, taxpayers may contact the Tax Department, NDMC, during office hours or visit the official website, said the statement.

Earlier, NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal launched project D.R.O.P. (Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastic) in collaboration with an automobile maker and the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA).

The initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening scientific plastic waste management, promoting recycling, and fostering greater public participation in environmental sustainability.

On the occasion, Chahal unveiled the D.R.O.P. Community Bins, manufactured from recycled plastic waste, and flagged off the D.R.O.P. Collection Vehicle, marking the operational launch of a structured end-to-end plastic waste collection, segregation and recycling system across the NDMC area, in the presence of Anil Valmiki, Council Member, NDMC; Ajay Garg, Secretary, IPCA; Radha Goyal, Deputy Director, IPCA; Atul Sood, Senior Vice President of the automobile manufacturer, Shakuntala Shrivastava, Medical Officer of Health, NDMC; along with senior officers, representatives of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), Market Traders Associations (MTAs) and other stakeholders.

After inaugurating the D.R.O.P. (Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastic) bins, Chahal said that the NDMC has been successfully working with the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) since 2021 in the field of solid waste management.

“Under this collaboration, 115 aerobins have been installed, 62,958 kilograms of wet waste have been scientifically processed and 10,013 kilograms of compost have been produced. Building on this success, the NDMC and IPCA are now implementing Project D.R.O.P., under which dedicated plastic collection bins will be installed across the NDMC area. The project will ensure systematic collection, transportation, segregation and recycling of plastic waste through authorised recycling channels,” he said.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Chahal said, “Project D.R.O.P. is a transformative step towards advancing the vision of Swachh Bharat, Mission LiFE and Viksit Bharat @2047 envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
