New Delhi, June 15 (IANS) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 on Tuesday to promote youth engagement with democratic processes and offer them a hands-on understanding of governance and parliamentary functioning.
The Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, hosted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, is a movement that channels the energy, ideas, and aspirations of India’s youth into the national conversation, said an official statement.
The national-level event, being organised from June 15 to 17, is looking to build on the success of previous editions, reimagining youth engagement with democratic processes, offering young citizens a hands-on understanding of governance and policy deliberation.
“The resolutions forged in Central Hall will echo well beyond these three days, inspiring a generation of young leaders to take ownership of India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” said the statement.
The programme unfolds across three progressive stages, each designed to deepen youth participation: District Nodal Rounds, State Rounds and National Round.
The ongoing National Round brings top-performing delegates from across all States and Union Territories to New Delhi for the grand finale, said the statement.
The National Round features activities like “Opening Remarks”, in which one representative from each team will address the House for three minutes each on the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan: Catalysing Inclusivity and Viksit Bharat 2047.
A “Question Hour” will also be held, encouraging teams to pose questions and respond to queries — 3 minutes to question, 3 minutes to answer — as part of a larger objective of building a collective resolution.
As part of the “Masterclass” activity, an eminent personality will conduct a masterclass on oratory and public speaking, sharpening the leadership edge of participating youth.
The delegates will also explore India’s rich political heritage and leadership legacy through a curated visit to the PM Sangrahalaya, said the statement.
A walkthrough of India’s new Parliament building shall offer participants a direct connection to the seat of the nation’s democracy, it said.
On the final day on June 17, the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 Awards will be presented, recognising outstanding contributions by young participants.
