Gandhinagar, June 17 (IANS) The Gujarat Cabinet on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the upcoming monsoon season and approved plans for the state-wide “Shala Praveshotsav and Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav-2026”, scheduled to be held from June 23 to 25 across the state, alongside discussions on the newly announced ‘Industries Policy’ aimed at boosting investment and industrial growth.

Briefing the media after the meeting held in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, state spokesperson Minister Jitu Vaghani said the government had taken a series of public-interest decisions covering education, disaster preparedness, industrial development and civic awareness.

“The three-day Shala Praveshotsav and Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav-2026 will see participation from the Chief Minister, members of the Council of Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs and senior administrative officers, who will visit rural and urban areas to facilitate the admission of children into schools,” he said.

Children enrolling for the first time, along with children from Anganwadis, will be welcomed with educational kits and notebooks.

“The initiative, first launched in Gujarat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be further intensified this year,” he added.

Vaghani said the Chief Minister had directed the administration to remain fully prepared for the monsoon season and to ensure round-the-clock readiness.

As part of the instructions, 24×7 control rooms will be established in every district to manage any weather-related emergencies.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the need for extensive tree plantation during the monsoon period to strengthen environmental protection and increase green cover across the state.

The Cabinet also welcomed the state’s new ‘Viksit Gujarat Industries Policy 2026’, with members extending congratulations to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.

According to Vaghani, the policy is expected to further attract foreign investment into Gujarat while also providing significant support to local entrepreneurs and industries, including those undergoing expansion.

“The Chief Minister has directed that the policy be actively promoted and implemented in a manner that addresses the requirements of industrial stakeholders,” he said.

The Cabinet also reiterated the importance of implementing suggestions made by the Prime Minister during the NITI Aayog meeting and strengthening the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative to enhance global recognition of local products and industries and support the broader goal of self-reliance.

“The meeting also reviewed civic awareness initiatives, with the Chief Minister calling for large-scale public participation campaigns to promote water conservation and cleanliness as part of daily life,” Vaghani said.

The Cabinet meeting concluded with a review of administrative preparedness and coordination ahead of the monsoon season and upcoming state-wide programmes.
