Jaipur, June 18 (IANS) In a major breakthrough, Barmer’s Sadar Police have solved a sensational blind murder case, arresting a woman and her alleged lover for allegedly murdering her husband and disposing of his body in a water storage tank to destroy evidence.

Acting under the direction of Barmer SP Chunaram Jat, a special team from Sadar Police Station and the Circle Office cracked the case within days using technical surveillance and field intelligence.

The accused, Netal Devi, wife of the deceased Tejaram Bhil, and her alleged lover, Gumansingh Rajput, have been arrested.

The case came to light on June 4 when Mahesharam Bhil, a resident of Garal currently living in Mahabar, reported that his brother Tejaram’s body had been found floating in a water tank containing around 3.5 to 4 feet of water on land belonging to Hemaram Jat near Naukhada Malpura Phanta.

SHO Kartar Singh registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.

During the probe, police found suspicious circumstances and gathered intelligence pointing towards the involvement of Tejaram’s wife and one of her associates.

Following the emergence of evidence, Mahesharam lodged a murder complaint on June 15 against Netal Devi, Gumansingh Rajput and another accused, Nimbaram.

Given the seriousness of the case, Circle Officer Ramesh Kumar Sharma led the investigation under the supervision of Additional SP Nitesh Arya.

A police team subsequently tracked down and arrested the two prime accused.

During interrogation, police uncovered a story of marital discord rooted in an alleged extramarital relationship.

Tejaram, who worked as a labourer in Jalore, had reportedly learned about his wife Netal Devi’s relationship with Gumansingh Rajput.

After returning home and confronting her, frequent disputes reportedly broke out between the couple.

Eventually, Netal Devi left the family home with her children and shifted to Barmer.

Police said Tejaram later travelled to Barmer in an attempt to reconcile with his wife and confront Gumansingh.

Another heated argument reportedly erupted between the three, following which Gumansingh and Netal Devi allegedly conspired to kill him.

The duo allegedly murdered Tejaram and dumped his body in a secluded water tank owned by Hemaram Jat before fleeing the spot.

Police credited Constables Bharat Kumar and Shankar Singh of Sadar Police Station for their crucial role in solving the case.

Their efforts in gathering technical evidence and developing field intelligence were instrumental in identifying and apprehending the accused.
