Jaipur, June 19 (IANS) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday issued a stern warning against delays in public utility projects, stating that administrative laxity affecting services such as water supply, electricity, healthcare and roads would not be tolerated.
Chairing the sixth ‘Raj Unnati’ meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office, Sharma said officials would be held accountable for delays in project execution and face strict action where necessary.
Reviewing the progress of key development works, the Chief Minister expressed displeasure over delays in the construction of the CETP pumping station and pipeline project in Sanganer. He directed officials to conduct site inspections and ensure that the project is completed expeditiously.
Sharma also instructed the Chief Secretary to streamline procedures related to project approvals, land acquisition, tendering and the issuance of work orders to reduce implementation timelines.
In a major administrative action, the Chief Minister ordered the suspension of more than half a dozen officials, including the UIT Secretary, in connection with the issuance of two separate leases for the same plot in Sri Ganganagar and the grant of commercial leases on land reserved for public amenities.
Emphasising the government’s commitment to prompt grievance redressal, Sharma directed officials to prepare district-wise reports on complaints received through the Sampark portal.
During a video conference, a resident of Hanumangarh thanked the Chief Minister for removing encroachments from a 40-year-old public right of way.
Sharma subsequently directed District Collectors to organise service camps to resolve encroachment and revenue-related cases.
The Chief Minister also instructed District Collectors to complete drain-cleaning and road repair works ahead of the monsoon and ensure preparedness to tackle seasonal diseases.
He directed the Chief Secretary to conduct monthly reviews of major projects and ordered the formation of a committee to monitor the procurement and availability of medicines in government hospitals.
Reviewing eight projects across seven departments, Sharma directed officials to complete all works within the stipulated timeframe in mission mode.
He reiterated the government’s focus on developing major religious destinations and directed the Tourism Department and the Rajasthan State Road Development and Construction Corporation (RSRDC) to implement the approved blueprint for the comprehensive development of the Khatu Shyam Ji temple area.
The proposed development includes an interpretation centre, a Katha pavilion, an open-air theatre, a light and sound show, fairground facilities, a waiting hall, a cafeteria, a food court, parking facilities and a grand entrance.
The Chief Minister stressed that all construction work should meet high-quality standards and be monitored through regular site inspections.
Sharma also called for the speedy disposal of legacy waste accumulated at urban dumping sites, stating that effective monitoring would help address waste management challenges and facilitate the establishment of processing plants.
Reviewing plans for the proposed ‘Karmyogi Bhawan’ in Jaipur’s Lalkothi area, the Chief Minister directed the Rajasthan State Road Development and Construction Corporation to begin construction at the earliest.
He said the facility would provide modern office infrastructure for various directorates and commissions, improving administrative efficiency.
The Chief Minister further expressed concern over repeated cost escalations in the Andheri Medium Irrigation Project in Chhabra tehsil of Baran district.
Directing the Chief Secretary to examine the matter, he instructed officials to issue work orders immediately so that farmers can begin receiving irrigation benefits from the project.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), with particular focus on welfare initiatives for the Sahariya tribal community.
