‘Hunkar Sabha’ in Bharatpur today over Jat reservation; Hanuman Beniwal to attend

Jaipur, June 22 (IANS) The long-pending demand for Central OBC reservation for the Jat community has once again gathered momentum in eastern Rajasthan, with a massive ‘Hunkar Sabha’ scheduled to be held in Bharatpur on Monday.

“A ‘Jat Reservation Hunkar Rally’ will be held at the Numaish Ground in Bharatpur,” said Hanuman Beniwal, National President of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) and MP from Nagaur, who will participate in the rally along with his supporters.

“The rally is being organised to demand OBC reservation at the central level for the Jat community in the Dholpur, Bharatpur, and Deeg districts,” he added.

The rally, being organised by the Jat Reservation Struggle Committee at Numaish Maidan, is expected to draw a large turnout from the Jat community across Rajasthan as well as neighbouring states, including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.

Organisers have claimed that nearly one lakh people could participate in the gathering.

According to Committee Convener Nem Singh Faujdar, elaborate arrangements have been made for the event, including a large dome structure, drinking water facilities, medical assistance, and ambulance services.

He said invitations were extended through the traditional practice of distributing ‘peele chawal’ (yellow rice) in villages across Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh to mobilise community participation.

The demand for Central reservation for Jats in the Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Deeg regions has remained a contentious issue for years.

Community leaders contend that despite repeated assurances from successive governments, the demand has yet to be fulfilled.

Faujdar said the community has been engaged in a prolonged struggle for reservation benefits at the Central level and is now preparing to intensify its movement.

He added that the Bharatpur gathering would not only serve as a platform to voice the community’s concerns but would also formulate the future strategy of the reservation movement.

With the possibility of a massive turnout, the district administration has also heightened security and monitoring arrangements.

The rally is being viewed as a significant show of strength by the Jat community and could shape the course of the reservation movement in the region in the coming months.
