Patna, June 22 (IANS) At a conference organised by the BJP for the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) community in Patna, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary strongly defended the NDA government’s policies and launched political attacks on the opposition.

Beginning his address with slogans in support of Karpoori Thakur, Samrat Choudhary described himself as a representative and protector of Bihar’s Extremely Backward Classes.

He stated that as long as he remained in public life, no harm would come to the EBC community.

Referring to Bihar’s sizeable EBC population, he said the government was committed to ensuring their welfare and empowerment.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to law and order, stating that action against criminals would continue.

He said the administration was determined to make Bihar crime-free and warned that those involved in criminal activities would not be spared.

Referring to the recent NEET examination controversy, Samrat Choudhary said the examination had been conducted successfully and that the government had acted promptly after irregularities came to light.

He claimed that he had been personally monitoring developments and emphasised that individuals involved in examination malpractice or attempts to compromise the system would face legal action.

According to him, every person found responsible for manipulation or irregularities would be identified and prosecuted.

The Chief Minister also delivered a strong message regarding administrative accountability.

He stated that officials and government employees who fail to complete legitimate public work within a stipulated period would face disciplinary action.

According to him, repeated warnings would be followed by suspension if work remained incomplete.

Targeting the opposition, particularly the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Samrat Choudhary claimed that the BJP had stronger representation of EBC legislators than the opposition party.

Bihar Minister Pramod Chandravanshi praised several welfare initiatives of Prime Minister Modi.

He cited the construction of household toilets under government schemes, saying these initiatives had improved the dignity and safety of women from economically weaker sections.

Referring to the Ayushman health insurance scheme, he said poor families no longer need to sell property or incur heavy debts for medical treatment, as eligible beneficiaries can receive health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh.

Chandravanshi also highlighted the decision to confer the Bharat Ratna on Karpoori Thakur, stating that the recognition honoured the contribution of a leader associated with backward and marginalised communities.

He accused opposition parties of neglecting Karpoori Thakur’s legacy and credited the Central government with honouring him.

During his address, Chandravanshi urged members of the EBC community to participate actively in politics and public life.

He encouraged them to engage confidently in social and political activities and assured them of the government’s support.
