Kolkata, June 23 (IANS) The administration in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas has issued a notice to Imran Molla, the son of arrested Trinamool Congress leader Saokat Molla, to demolish a cafe built on a river Island near the Sundarbans, a state government official said on Tuesday.

Imran Molla is accused of building a cafeteria on a river island on Matla river after indiscriminately destroying mangroves and occupying the island.

According to the government official, if the cafe is not demolished on his own initiative within seven days, a bulldozer will be used to demolish the cafe owned by Imran Molla.

A cafe called ‘Aranyer Kule’ was built by occupying a river island on the Matla river bank in Moukhali of South 24 Parganas district.

The cafe owner’s name is Imran Molla.

At that time, his father Saokat Molla was an influential leader of the South 24 Parganas and the Trinamool MLA from Canning Purba Assembly constituency.

Locals alleged that Imran Molla indulged in illegal activities because of his father’s influence.

Trinamool MLA Saokat Molla and his family occupied a large land in the Matla river island and built a cafe.

After Saokat Molla lost the recently concluded state Assembly elections, one case after another was filed against him. This controversial cafe is one of them.

Meanwhile, Saokat Molla has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Bhangar bomb blast case.

Before that, the investigators had taken his son Imran Molla for questioning.

At that time, the administration put up a notice at the gate of ‘Aranyer Kule’ to seek information about the cafe. This time, the Canning sub-division administration of South 24 Parganas district has ordered the demolition of the cafe.

Recently, the Canning Sub-Divisional Officer has directed that the cafe owner will have to demolish the cafeteria on his own initiative within the next seven days.

If it is not done within the specified time, the administration will conduct an eviction drive itself and the cost will have to be borne by the owner of the cafe.

The administration had earlier ordered Imran Molla to submit all the legal documents related to the land by June 18.

Imran’s lawyer was present at the hearing in connection with the case.

However, they could not show the legal documents of the land.
