Gandhinagar, June 24 (IANS) The Gujarat government has approved development works worth more than Rs 3.28 crore to upgrade facilities across key tourism and pilgrimage destinations in the state, in a move aimed at strengthening infrastructure for visitors and devotees.

The approvals were granted by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi for a range of projects covering temples, heritage sites and popular tourist locations across multiple districts, including Valsad, Dang, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat.

According to the approvals, development works will be undertaken at the Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Temple in Kosamba, Valsad district, to enhance visitor facilities.

In the hill station of Saputara, a grant has been sanctioned to improve the approach road to the sunrise and sunset points, which are among the key attractions for tourists.

In Rajkot district’s Upleta, a solar rooftop project has been approved at the Shri Swaminarayan Temple as part of efforts to promote renewable energy use at religious sites.

In Ahmedabad district’s Bhoyani, funding has been cleared for development works at the Shri Mallinathji Maharaj Jain pilgrimage site to improve amenities for visiting pilgrims.

Further approvals include redevelopment and infrastructure improvement works at the Shri Siddhnath Mahadev Temple in Vadodara district, including the renovation of the premises, installation of a borewell, Kota stone flooring, construction of decorative gates, and electrification works.

In Surat’s Adajan area, civil works, along with solar installations, have been sanctioned for the Shri Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple complex.

The government stated that these initiatives are intended to modernise facilities at pilgrimage centres while supporting sustainable infrastructure development across the state’s tourism network.

Officials have been directed to ensure that all sanctioned works are completed within the stipulated timeframe and to the required quality standards.

The approved projects form part of wider efforts to enhance the experience of visitors to Gujarat’s religious and tourist destinations and to improve supporting infrastructure at high-footfall sites.
