New Delhi, June 28 (IANS) RSS National Executive Member Indresh Kumar on Sunday said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged embezzlement of donations and ‘chadhava’ (offerings) at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has been given complete freedom to investigate the matter, while urging people not to politicise the issue and expressing confidence that any wrongdoing would be dealt with strictly.

Addressing the controversy surrounding the alleged misappropriation of temple donations, Kumar said the government, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) were taking all necessary steps to ensure justice.

He said, “SIT is doing an investigation regarding it. The government, the trust, and the organisation, namely the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, are taking the necessary steps. Therefore, the country has faith in the raja, sanghthan, and the trust. If any wrongdoing has occurred, Ayodhya’s Ram Rajya is such that criminals are never forgiven; they are punished. There is no need for haste or to politicise the matter…”

In another statement, Kumar reiterated that the investigating agency has complete independence to carry out the probe.

He said, “The SIT has full freedom. The organisation, the Trust, and the government have extended their full support to ensure that justice is delivered and that no wrongdoing goes unaddressed. Therefore, the entire country was reassured and continues to be reassured. Some people are going out of their way to provoke others. They are not waiting for justice.”

The remarks come amid mounting scrutiny over allegations of financial irregularities involving donations received at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Meanwhile, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Saturday confirmed that it has received the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra following the widespread uproar over the alleged misappropriation of donations and chadhava at the Ram Mandir.

According to the Trust, both senior members submitted their resignations on moral grounds on Friday. The confirmation marked the first official acknowledgement of the resignations after speculation and conflicting reports circulated throughout the day.

In a statement, the Trust said it was “shocked, hurt and extremely saddened” by the donation controversy and would deliberate on the resignations during its next meeting before taking a final decision.

The Trust also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a fair investigation into the allegations and preserving the faith of crores of devotees of Lord Ram.

In its first public statement since the controversy emerged, the Trust said it remained committed to a fair and impartial probe into the alleged theft of donations while taking all necessary steps to restore the confidence of devotees in the temple’s administration.
