Wayanad, June 28 (IANS) Congress General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday felicitated Wayanad mountaineer Zuhra Cherukappalli for her remarkable achievement of scaling Mount Everest, describing the feat as a shining example of determination, courage and perseverance that would inspire women across the country.

During the meeting held in Wayanad, Priyanka warmly congratulated Zuhra on becoming one of the few women from Kerala to conquer the world’s highest peak. She praised the young mountaineer for overcoming immense physical and mental challenges to achieve her dream, saying her success reflected the spirit of resilience and hard work.

The Congress leader said Zuhra’s achievement was not merely a personal milestone but a proud moment for Wayanad and Kerala. She noted that such accomplishments motivate young people, particularly girls, to pursue ambitious goals with confidence and determination.

Priyanka interacted with Zuhra and her family, extending her best wishes for her future endeavours. She said stories of perseverance like Zuhra’s reinforce the belief that dedication and unwavering commitment can help overcome even the most daunting challenges.

The felicitation formed part of Priyanka Gandhi’s two-day visit to her Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, during which she participated in a series of public programmes and development initiatives across the district.

Over the past two days, she inaugurated public infrastructure projects, attended meetings with local residents and party workers, and reviewed issues concerning development and public welfare in the constituency.

The Congress MP also interacted with people from different sections of society, listening to their concerns and assuring them that their issues would continue to be raised at the appropriate forums.

Since being elected as the Member of Parliament from Wayanad in the 2024 by-election, Priyanka Gandhi has maintained regular engagement with the constituency, frequently visiting the region to review developmental works and interact with residents.
