Bhopal, June 28 (IANS) In a significant push towards strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy sector, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate two major solar parks with a combined capacity of 950 MW on Monday.

The 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park and the 450 MW Shajapur Solar Park represent a major milestone in the state’s clean energy journey.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi and state Minister for New and Renewable Energy Rakesh Shukla will also participate in the event.

The programme will also witness the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the country’s one of the most competitive 440 MW Murana Solar Plus Storage Project — the first of its kind in the state.

The project has secured an impressive tariff of Rs 2.70 per unit, the lowest in India for solar energy with storage.

Additionally, the groundbreaking and inauguration of various industrial units and development works worth Rs 1,553.98 crore will take place.

Additional Chief Secretary for New and Renewable Energy Manu Srivastava highlighted the competitive tariffs achieved.

The Neemuch Solar Park units have been secured at remarkably low rates of Rs 2.14 to Rs 2.15 per unit, while the Shajapur Solar Park units range between Rs 2.33 and Rs 2.35 per unit.

These rates are among the lowest in the country, making the projects highly viable and beneficial for consumers.

Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation Amit Tomar said the Chief Minister and the Union Minister will jointly perform the foundation stone-laying and inauguration ceremonies for multiple projects that will accelerate industrial growth and energy self-reliance in the state.

The Agar Solar Park (550 MW), currently under construction, has also achieved competitive rates of Rs 2.44 to Rs 2.45 per unit, further strengthening the state’s solar portfolio.

These initiatives are expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, attract investment and significantly contribute to Madhya Pradesh’s renewable energy targets.

The addition of large-scale solar capacity along with battery storage will enhance grid stability and promote round-the-clock clean power supply.

The developments underline the state government’s strong commitment to sustainable development, green energy transition and making Madhya Pradesh a national leader in solar power generation.

The twin solar parks and the pioneering storage project are set to play a transformative role in the state’s energy landscape.
