Ghaziabad, June 30 (IANS) A transformer caught fire in Adarsh Nagar Colony of Khoda in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district, near the Delhi border, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The blaze quickly spread through nearby electric cables, with flames visible from nearly two kilometres away.

Upon receiving the alert, around half a dozen fire tenders were rushed to the spot, while additional fire engines from nearby fire stations also joined the firefighting operation. Police and fire personnel managed to bring the blaze under control.

Fire Officer Rahul Pal said, “We received information about a fire in a transformer in Shiv Mandir Wali Gali, Adarsh Nagar, Khoda Gaon. Two fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the spot. We also received information that some diesel drums kept nearby had caught fire, raising the possibility of the flames spreading to nearby houses. Considering the situation, two additional fire tenders, along with a Fire Quick Response Vehicle (FQRV) suitable for narrow lanes, were rushed to the scene.

Meanwhile, on Monday, a major fire broke out in a flat on the 22nd floor of Aranya Society in Sector 119, Noida, triggering a large-scale emergency response. Preliminary reports suggest the blaze was caused by a blast in an air conditioner (AC) unit.

Six fire tenders were deployed to the spot to bring the flames under control. The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of Gautam Buddha Nagar and local police officials also reached the site to oversee the firefighting and rescue operations.

According to Noida Police, the fire was reported from a flat in Aranya Society under the jurisdiction of Sector 113 Police Station. Fire Service teams responded immediately and launched firefighting operations. Authorities later confirmed that no casualties were reported and the fire was successfully brought under control.

Soon after the incident was reported, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the fire and directed senior officials to reach the site without delay and monitor the situation. He instructed authorities to expedite relief and rescue operations, ensure proper medical care for anyone affected, maintain strict administrative vigilance, and continuously review the progress of the ongoing relief efforts.
