Sydney, June 24 (Australia India News Newsdesk): The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, with support from the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), partnered with Dhamma Yoga Australia to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga at the Glenwood Community Hub on June 20.
The event was organised under this year’s global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” bringing together participants of all ages for a morning of yoga, mindfulness and community engagement.
Led by experienced instructors, including Dr Amit Sharma of Dhamma Yoga, the session featured gentle asanas, breathwork and guided relaxation practices aimed at improving mobility, balance and long-term wellbeing. Participants were encouraged to embrace yoga as a practical way to support healthy aging and holistic health.
Organisers said the programme created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, fostering community spirit while highlighting yoga’s enduring relevance in promoting physical fitness, mental wellbeing and inner harmony. The celebration reflected the growing enthusiasm for yoga across multicultural communities in Australia and reinforced its role in encouraging healthier and more mindful lifestyles.
