Delhi BJP chief, colleagues pay tributes to ex-CM Sahib Singh

New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra and Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Tuesday led party colleagues in paying tributes to former Chief Minister Sahib Singh on his death anniversary.

Speaking on the occasion, Malhotra said that Verma dedicated his entire life to ensuring that the benefits of development and public welfare schemes reached the last person of society.

He was a mass leader who always prioritised the interests of villages, the poor, farmers and ordinary citizens, Malhotra said.

Malhotra said that as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Sahib Singh made significant contributions in the fields of education, transport, healthcare and basic infrastructure.

He consistently raised the issues of Delhi’s rural areas and farmers and worked tirelessly for their development, he said.

Malhotra said that Sahib Singh’s simplicity, honesty and commitment towards the organisation continue to be a source of inspiration for party workers. His life will continue to motivate everyone to move forward on the path of public service.

He added that the BJP family and the people of Delhi will always remember Sahib Singh’s contributions and continue to draw inspiration from his ideals.

The former CM’s family members, including his wife, Sahib Kaur, elder son and Delhi government Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, and younger son Siddharth Sahib Singh, along with his wife, also offered prayers at an event organised at Sahib Singh’s memorial in Ghevra.

On this occasion, Rasraj Ji Maharaj, a devotee of Lord Hanuman, recited the Shri Sundarkand. Along with hundreds of party workers, Delhi Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Delhi BJP General Secretary and MP Yogendra Chandolia, among others, paid floral tributes on behalf of the people of Delhi.

Parvesh Sahib Singh said: “Late Shri Sahib Singh Verma Ji’s life was a shining example of simplicity, integrity, and selfless public service.”

“He dedicated himself to safeguarding the dignity, rights, and welfare of those standing at the very last mile of society. His values, principles, and unwavering commitment to public welfare continue to inspire and guide us in our responsibility to serve the people with honesty and dedication,” said Parvesh Sahib Singh.

A programme was also organised at the Delhi BJP office in memory of Sahib Singh, according to a Delhi BJP statement.

On this occasion, Delhi BJP President Malhotra, along with Sahib Singh’s son and Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, General Secretary Vishnu Mittal and Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor paid tributes to the former Chief Minister.

Vice Presidents Dinesh Pratap Singh, Yogita Singh, Lata Gupta and Vinay Rawat, Minister Sona Kumari, Office Secretaries Brijesh Rai and Amit Gupta, Yuva Morcha President Sagar Tyagi, Purvanchal Morcha President Santosh Ojha, Minority Morcha President Anees Abbasi, Spokesperson Yasir Jilani, party leaders Gaurav Khari, Vijay Solanki, Lalit Joshi, Rajesh Gupta and others paid their respects.
