Patna, July 1 (IANS) The Bihar Cabinet approved 29 proposals during its latest meeting on Wednesday, clearing a series of measures focused on education, transport infrastructure, religious tourism and public amenities.

Among the key decisions are the establishment of five new Kendriya Vidyalayas, the modernisation of 31 bus stands under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the development of the Lord Vaman Temple in Buxar, and the organisation of a state-sponsored pilgrimage to Somnath for 1,100 devotees.

The Cabinet approved the allotment of five acres of government land for each of the five new Kendriya Vidyalayas to be established in Bihar.

The schools will be set up at Purnea’s Mauza Madhubani, Rajgir’s Mauza Pilkhi (Nalanda district), Sheikhpura’s Mauza Nimi, Madhepura’s Mauza Sahugarh, and Madhubani’s Rajnagar Block, Mauza Satiharpur.

The government said the new schools are expected to improve access to quality education by providing modern academic infrastructure and learning facilities for students.

The Cabinet also granted in-principle approval for the comprehensive redevelopment of 31 bus stands across Bihar through the PPP model.

Bus terminals in several districts, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Darbhanga, Purnea, Munger, Katihar, Saharsa, Nawada, Madhubani and Kishanganj, will be upgraded with facilities such as modern passenger waiting lounges, improved parking facilities, commercial complexes, digital passenger services, enhanced sanitation infrastructure, and advanced traffic management systems.

The Cabinet approved the development and beautification of the Lord Vaman Temple, located within the Central Jail complex in Buxar.

The project includes demarcation of land for the temple complex, construction of a boundary wall, strengthening security arrangements, and development of a dedicated access route for devotees.

The initiative is intended to improve facilities for pilgrims while preserving the site’s religious significance.

The Bihar government has also approved the organisation of a two-day pilgrimage to Somnath for approximately 1,100 devotees, beginning on July 20, 2026.

The pilgrimage is being organised to commemorate Somnath Swabhiman Parv – 1000 Years of Unwavering Faith.

The Cabinet approved the necessary administrative and financial arrangements for the programme, with the government stating that the initiative aims to facilitate a well-organised pilgrimage and promote religious tourism.
